POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Loss Prevention Specialist (LP Specialist) is responsible for assessing facilities, equipment and processes to identify and report opportunities of loss due to theft, shoplifting, and potential hazards.   The LP Specialist helps implement and maintain consistency of policies and procedures, and reinforces a company culture that maintains a high priority on, safety and risk mitigation.  The LP team plays a critical role in safeguarding organizational assets while reducing financial losses while implementing strategies which prevent theft, fraud and other losses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • Five (5) years of retail loss prevention and safety experience preferred, or equivalent experience including:

  • Knowledge of the retail environment and how it operates

  • Knowledge of retail loss prevention processes, procedures and programs

  • Knowledge of general safety practices, procedures and policies as they relate to a retail environment

  • Working knowledge of investigation processes (Exception Based Reports, remote audits, and in-person audits.)

  • Knowledge of retail accounting methods

  • Knowledge of physical inventory process, calculation and control

  • Knowledge of physical security systems and practices.

  • Computer/Analytical skills and Technical knowledge of both retail processes and loss prevention programs and strategies, with the ability to navigate programs such as Excel, Word, Counterpoint, Airtable, and various security systems.

  • Verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, communicating with local authorities, and court testimonies.

  • Decision making skills, with the ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

  • Interpersonal skills, with experience conducting interviews for internal theft investigations preferred.

  • Organizational skills

  • Willingness to be on call, in most instances, at all times. After hours calls are rare, but the ability to respond is necessary.  After hours call responsibilities will be divided on a scheduled rotation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for investigating reports of known or suspected internal theft, violence, the threat of violence or other criminal acts of an associate, customer or other third party

  • With Loss Prevention Manager, conducting regular shrink and safety assessments to evaluate compliance with established policies/practices

  • Keep abreast of local issues or activities that may impact the safety/security of customers or associates, or create a business risk and to provide appropriate support

  • Identifying and reacting to stores for which a risk assessment is appropriate.  Assist in the oversight, installation, and use of security related equipment

  • Investigate incidents, which may create actual or potential losses.  This includes interviewing witnesses and suspects.

  • Conducting scheduled Remote and In-Person Audits.  

  • Management and oversight of contract security services conducting administrative duties as they relate to the Loss Prevention process.

Role Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physical Security Consultant with at least five years of experience in physical security planning, assessment, conceptual mitigation strategy development, design, and implementation. This mid-level role is ideal for professionals passionate about protecting critical infrastructure and developing resilient security solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting client engagements, including a near-term focus on security planning for a community water system.

Key Responsibilities

· Conduct physical security assessments and develop mitigation strategies for a variety of facilities and infrastructure.

· Develop and deliver client physical security policy and plans, including site-specific physical security plans.

· Collaborate with clients to understand security needs and tailor solutions accordingly.

· Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.

· Support the development of security plans for a community water system, incorporating risk and resilience analysis.

· Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices in physical security and critical infrastructure protection.

· Participate in site visits, walk-throughs, and inspections, including climbing stairs and walking for extended periods.

· Ensure compliance with safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

· Maintain reliable transportation for travel to client sites and office, as required (25% travel expected).

· Work remotely with a dependable internet connection and workspace; company provides necessary computer equipment.

· Attend in-person meetings at the Covington, KY office approximately once per week.

Qualifications Required

· Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, Engineering, or a related field.

· 5 or more years of experience in physical security planning, consulting or a closely related discipline.

· Ability to work independently under general supervision and execute assigned tasks on multiple projects simultaneously.

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English through written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to travel and perform physical tasks on-site without assistance.

· Proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).

Qualifications Preferred

· Experience with physical security planning, assessment, and implementation for critical infrastructure sectors as defined by U.S. Department of Homeland Security and federal directives.

· Recognized industry certifications (e.g., PSP, CPP, CPTED, CISSP) or ability to obtain one within the first year (company-sponsored).

· Familiarity with security risk and resilience regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices for critical infrastructure sectors such as AWIA, DHS CFATS, NERC CIP, NIST, or FEMA frameworks.
